Ski Day

So this past month I've been dying to take Tyler skiing. Yesterday my sister-in-law Angie told me about a free tow rope at Sundance, so today we went and it was a perfect ski day for Tyler. The first trip up the tow rope was rough but after convincing him to try again we did great. We went up about 5-6 times lasting a few hours. He did great at his snow-plow after explaining how it was done, and then teaching him how to turn. This all a refresher from last year. The hill is hardly a slope, but because it is somewhat flat it is easy to have him practice how to ski without him going to fast and loosing control. He said of few times "this is Awesome". And would say "this is the last time" but then wanted to go up again. I know he had a great time and I am so proud of him for doing so well skiing, listening and not complaining. Yippee and Good Job Tyler, Mommy is so proud of you!!!

Bed Time...

Last night after I put him to bed, about 20 min later he came downstairs and said he was scared of the dark. I told him the hall light was on and then turned it off to show him what dark was, he then said he was going to sleep at the edge of his bed and I said that was fine. So after Clint and I watched a movie, we went to go to bed and found this little kiddo at the edge of the stairs, after laughing I decided to take a picture.

New Years 2010

New Years Eve was hosted at our house, and food was contributed by everyone. We mostly played Rock Band which Clinton bought for the party and to play after too. It was fun and Anthony loved the drums, while Clinton, Mikey and Kendra played the guitars and Angie or I sang. The kiddos (Tyler, Chloe and Tate) danced and played playdough and then got a chance to sing, check out the video below. Tyler then made Ellie laugh, it was so darn cute. I can't wait for him to play with his little brother Sawyer this summer, he is going to be such a big helper. We then tried to play Scum but with the tired kiddos and out of control dogs we gave up and played a little more Rock Band and then watched the ball drop. Tyler managed to stay up and didn't even seem that tired, but went to sleep quickly after getting in bed.

New Year's Day we woke up and started putting away our Christmas decor. We then headed to a church in Midvale for the annual Monson family reunion. At this we eat baked potatoes and chili with various salad's and then get family pictures, play basketball, bingo and hit the pinata.

Today Tyler insisted that Taylor come to play at our house, so after work my sweet friend Kelli let me bring Taylor home to go sledding. Taylor seemed to have fun, not by her face expressions as much as when I asked her if she wanted to go again, she would smile and say yes. After a while Tyler wanted to go in for Hot Chocolate, so after a lot of convincing Taylor agreed. To set this up for you, Tyler adores Baby Taylor (not so baby anymore), he talks about her all the time and is so cute with her, giving hugs or holding hands to help her. I love it and even more love these cute pictures of them.

Grizzlies Hockey Game

Yesterday was my Grandma Harding's birthday so we met her for lunch at P.F. Changs, it was good to see her and so many other family members. At night, the Farnsworth's invited us and the Davies' to a hockey game. It was a fun night, we saw 1 fight, 2 almost fights and we were on the TV board 5 times. Tyler didn't like the noise when the Grizzlies would score, so a lot of the time he covered his ears. Tyler loved watching the Grizzly Bear Mascot and kept asking where it was, except he thought it was a "dog". Nicole and I had fun teasing Kathy about cleaning her purse. A guard had to ask me not to use my flash on the camera, and the Grizzles won 5-2. It was a great night, playing with family and watching the game.

Merry Christmas 2009

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Our Christmas was wonderful. Tyler woke up at 4:30 am and would have been ready to go if we'd let him, but instead he climb into bed with us and enjoyed sleeping until about 7:30 am. Clinton then called his parents to come over and while we waited Tyler opened his first Christmas package on Christmas Day from Mom and Dad, some Transformer air crafts. Once Grandma and Grandpa got here we headed down stairs where all the presents awaited us. As soon as he made it down stairs he saw the letter Santa wrote him on his new doodle board he opened last night from his grandparents. He was so excited and then moved onto Santa's presents (Bumblebee helmet and gun, snowshoes, and a word game). After playing for a little bit we then opened all the other presents from Mom, Dad and Aunt Lindy. He got a dual light saber, star wars Lego's, Super Structs, and clothes. Daddy (a.k.a Clinton) opened a nail gun with compressor and mini Makita cordless screw driver set. Grandma and Grandpa opened their calendar. I think everyone was very happy.

After opening presents we headed over to grandma and grandpa Monson's for the traditional breakfast (ham waffles). We visited with those who came Mikey, Kendra, Ellie, Karin, Ashlee, Alicia, Savannah and Kayden. Tyler mostly followed Kayden around playing guns. Karin was sweet to get us all First Aid kits, so we will be better prepared when we have rafting accidents or slam a finger with a cooler :). Clinton then opened one more present, a huge tool bag, where Tyler would secretly hide to scare others, or go for a ride around the house.

We headed back home for yet another party, where Grandpa and Grandma Harding, Sierra, Justin and the Farnsworth family came to celebrate and open more presents. We all were spoiled rotten. Tyler opened his first present from Justin, which was a hunting coat and he was thrilled about it. Then Tyler, Kinsey and Jordan opened a mini keyboard from sierra and all gave her a big hug. After which he opened a marshmellow gun, and Power Rangers from his cousins. Next Tyler opened present after present from Grandpa and Grandma until he was done and Jordan still had many more presents to open, it was pretty funny how each kid enjoys Christmas differently. Tyler opened Optimas Prime Transformer, clothes, legos, glitter ball, water bottle, and a building set. Clinton and I recieved a Patio Heater, Knife set (Yippee), Belgain waffle maker, and gift cards to restraunts. So yes we had a very very good Christmas. Randy and Nicole got RockBand 2for the Wii, so we all played and made fools of ourselves, it was a blast. I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life, family, friends, and co-workers. After everyone left, we ended the evening late with watching a new movie Tyler had in his stocking "Willow". After the movie Tyler went to bed around 10:30/11:00 and we said prayers remembering our greatest gift our Savior Jesus Christ. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day!

Christmas Eve

What a fun day! We started by getting the house and food ready for the Christmas Eve party at our house with Clinton's family. At 1:00 pm we got ready to go sledding up the Canyon with Anthony, Tate, Duke "Anthony's new dog" and Karin's family. While we waited for everyone, Ashes pulled Tyler in the sled on flat ground, everyone there was saying how cute it was, secretly a little jealous. When Anthony, Tate and Duke got there we let the dogs run around and Ashes, the smart dog she is decided to go down a mountain side and went halfway down and then turned to come back up the hill but the snow was too deep and the mountain too steep. She ended up going down to the river, got stuck and swam it several times before Clinton got down to help her out. Anthony and Duke headed down to help out too. She was wet and cold and by the time we went home she had little icicles on her fur coat, :( poor dog. Sledding was a blast, Tyler had a great time and loved going fast. Half way through he wanted to go on the boogie board, because it was so much faster. He was very brave and had a constant smile smeared on his face. I love that Tyler & Tate, and Ashes & Duke are such good buddies.

We then returned home to finish the last minute food things before everyone arrived. Thanks to Karin for helping cut the veggies, bringing food and then later cleaning up, she's the best! We had soup "Chicken Noodle and Chicken Tortilla", Yummy! The kids painted ornaments, and decorated cookies, we then had a story and activity from Royce who did a great job and helping everyone focus on the wonderful qualities each person has, we then got to read what everyone had to say, it was great to know how we are perceived in others eyes and recognize the good qualities we have. Then we watched the Nativity, which was short but definitely something the kids would hopefully remember. Then Travis had a little game, which was a lot of fun. We had to draw a picture on our head, without looking at it and you earned points for different things in your drawing. Lets just say some did better then others. Next was our gift exchange, the kids favorite part of the night. Tyler opened many presents, some transformers, etcha scketch, doodle board, Curious George book, sticker book, and from Mom and Dad, Clone War PJ's and Hungry Hippo game. We then ended the evening with Mom sharing a book with us "A Christmas Dress for Ellen" which was about a family in her ward "Ann Jepson".

I must say one of my favorite parts of the evening was watching Ashes and Duke playing tug-a-war with a bone. It was such a wonderful Christmas present to Ashes to have someone to play with and it made me smile all night and even think about getting another dog. It was a wonderful night and I appreciated all the help with activities and clean up. My only disappointment was that most of my pictures once again were very blurry. So for all the others who took pictures, please send me copies. Gracious!

Spanish School Christmas Program

Tyler did a wonderful job. He seemed so comfortable and confident on stage, we are so proud of him. It was so funny to watch the teachers in the background doing the moves to help the kids. Although, I think the kids focused more on them just because they were there. The little girl "Abby", teacher Laura's daughter next to Tyler was so cute when she had her arm around Tyler and wouldn't let go of him with one arm to put around the boy on the other side of her. Just the day before we had her, and her brother Chris come to play at our house. She is the sweetest most darling little girl. I posted some video and a few pictures that turned out just ok, because of the lighting and flash, etc... or maybe the photographer just needs help, YES!

We met up with some of Tyler's cousins to visit Santa Claus. Tyler was nervous to go sit on Santa's lap, but after Savannah went and with my help he made it on Santa's lap. Tyler asked for bumblebee and Santa asked him "Transformer bumblebee", Tyler said yes. Then Santa asked him if he new what color the car was, Tyler said yeah "Yellow". Santa then told him it was a Camero. Tyler did great and as you can see in the picture was still a little nervous (pulling on his sleeve). After Santa we went to see the Reindeer where we took some more pictures.

Gingerbread House

Tyler was so excited to make Gingerbread houses, he was asking all day when we could go to Great Grandma's and Grandpa's. He started the house out by himself, however about half way done, he also decided he was finished. This is when I took over and finished it up. I think he decided it was more excited to go play with cousins and toys. Our house was labeled the "Kit Kat" house. When we stood by our house to get a picture, Tyler was so grumpy because he just wanted to play. Oh well, we still love you grumpy.

Thanksgiving is over and it's time to get into the Christmas spirit. This week Clinton put up our tree and the lights,and really does like putting them on, he is very specific to how he likes it done with lots of lights. Even ashes got into the spirit. Tyler and I put up decorations and the ornaments on the tree. Poor Tyler was sick with a fever Sunday night into Monday night but still helping us get everything ready. Wednesday night we finished up with putting the train around the tree.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving went well at my house this year. My Turkey was still frozen the morning of so I had a melt down moment, but with Clinton's help everything ended up great. All the food was delicious, thanks to everyone bringing a dish or two to share.

I would just like to share how grateful I am for Clinton, who works so hard to provide a wonderful life for us. Tyler, who brings so much joy and happiness to my life. Erika, Tyler's birth mother who is beyond amazing to me with her love and selfless act of giving me the joys of motherhood. My job, where I get to take Tyler, and have developed many wonderful friendships with my co-workers. The gospel and the sacrifices Jesus Christ made for me so I can return to my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for Clinton's and my own extended families, who support me and love me for the crazy person I am. There are so many other things I am grateful for that I will just include in material posessions (home, cars, etc..) I am able to have in my life.

Today we went Pinyon Tree cutting, another family tradition the weekend before Thanksgiving. This tradition used to be the day before Thanksgiving and then returning Thanksgiving day. However, with everyone married, and Thanksgiving day being so busy, we love that it is the weekend before.

When asking Tyler what his favorite part was he said "riding the bike", I assumed that as meaning the motorcycle ride with Cameron. Then he said he also loved riding the four-wheelers. I guess it is to say that he had a GREAT day! We were able to get all the trees cut this year by 12:00. Had lunch, celebrated Dominic's birthday and then the boys had there usual gun shooting fest. We then loaded up the trees and headed home.

I am so excited that Tyler this week decided he can buckle his own seatbelt. I have no idea when most kids are able to do this, but up until Monday he pretty much refused to do it himself. For whatever reason, Monday morning I asked him to get in the car and try doing his seatbelt. After gathering coats, purse and anything else we needed, I arrived at his door to help with the seatbelt and he had the biggest brightest smile smeared on his face and he said "Mom, I did my seatbelt all by myself". He said it in a tone of suprise and amazement.

I told him of course how proud I was of him and secretly hoping that it would happen again. Well it has been a few days and he still tackles doing up his own seatbelt.

I am proud and happy for him in this simple accomplishment. I am probably more excited about it than he is, just in the fact that I don't have to climb in and out of the car to help him buckle his seatbelt anymore. Every time he does it I am still jumping for joy inside.

On Monday, after picking up Tyler from Spanish school, we came home to Clinton raking leaves in our backyard. I couldn't believe how many leaves there were. So after helping a little bit, we decided to play in them. Seriously it was so much fun. We threw leaves and buried each other.

After we played Clone Wars on the tramp, when Clinton said what a girl I was with my noises and pretend lightsaber fights. To be honest I haven't even seen the Clone Wars, I guess I better get on it.

This past weekend Justin my brother came down to stay the night. After church we took Tyler fishing. With Justin's expertise they accomplished it from digging up their own worms at our house to catching a little cut-throat. I must say I was extremely impressed. I am so grateful Tyler has such a wonderful Uncle, who is willing to take him out and be so patient in teaching him how to fish. We then headed home and Justin cooked it for us to eat. It was a great day, and hopefully one Tyler will always remember.

Once again we went on our annual tradition of cutting Alpine Christmas trees. Nearly everyone in the family came this year. We missed Mom, Royce and Angie. Thanks to the good turn out of people, everything went smooth and quick. Tyler had some good times playing with his cousins.

The whole drive up to go tree cutting, Tyler kept saying he would or had seen deer and elk in the mountains. Well his dream came true because just before lunch, Clinton's brother Warren found some Elk remains. So Clinton hid behind a tree with the head/antlers and pretended to be a Elk. Tyler was so freaked out that he hid behind Mikey's leg, it was hilarious. Finally when we told Tyler it was daddy, he slowly came out smiling but still a little cautious.

Happy Halloween

I hope everyone had as Happy of a Halloween as we did. Clinton had to work, so Tyler and I went to my sisters for dinner with her family, Grandpa Ray, Grandma Becky, and Sierra. Clinton met up with us and we all headed out to go trick-or-treating. It was great fun watching Tyler run from house to house, impressively keeping up with his older cousin Kinsey, who is 8. We also went to a scary haunted house by a family in our ward. As we were going through, Tyler desperately wanted to be done and get out, so we quickly went through to the end.

After trick-or-treating the neighborhood we headed over to Clinton's parents house to see Tyler's cousins all dressed up and visited a few neighbors. When we returned Tyler shared a scary story about Shadows, after which Kayden and Savannah followed. All in all it was a very successful Halloween night.

Haunted Train

My friend Kira invited Tyler and I to visit a Haunted Train. It is put on by a family who comes together to do this for the community, asking only for donations. They also do one at Christmas Time. I am amazed by how well this is organized and how perfect it was for Tyler. It was scary but not too scary.

As we were sitting waiting for our turn on the ride we watched a movie "The nightmare before Christmas", the Haunted Train theme. A light and sound piece, this is were Tyler and Korbin had their heads tilted. And then to my suprise Tyler gave five to a skeleton. Tyler is usually very uncomfortable/scared of anyone in a costume with masks. As we got on the train Tyler sat in his own seat. I sat behind him and couldn't help but laugh and giggle at his reactions to those jumping out to scare us. About half way through he decided he wanted to sit on my lap and still jumped and was very bright eyed watching for halloween characters moving and jumping out. After we were done I video'd him saying "I wasn't afraid", could have fooled me. Thank you Kira for inviting us, we had a wonderful time!

Angels and Ghosts

This year Tyler wanted to be a ghost. Of course I figured he would change his mind several times, but nope he still wanted to be a ghost. He said today "when I dress up for school tomorrow will I scare everyone?". I think his choice to be a ghost was so he could be scary. Yesterday, our Youth put on a Halloween party for the kids and because I am in Young Women's I was there in support, face painting on kids (scary right)! Tyler seemed to be his usual self and little timid with such a big group but was very comfortable playing with his Sunbeam Teacher "Brother Drew Decker". Also with his favorite friends our Neighbors Matt, JoHanna and of course Kaitlyn, as well as, Nicole, Kinsey, Jordan and Randy.

Today Tyler got to go on a field trip with his preschool class. It was cold but from the pictures it looks like he had fun. When he got back to School he had lunch and then got to dress up in his costume for his Spanish school and he was sooo excited to be scary.

Before the Halloween party, I took Tyler's shirt off to spray his hair white and while I was putting soup on the stove and his hair was drying, he came down with my Angel wings and halo on. Couldn't resist taking a picture.

I don't think I mention this enough, but I have the best father-in-law. He is so giving of his time and talents to help us out. Cement is no easy task but Lynn diligently comes to help us out and makes it look beautiful. Thanks Dad for your help. I can't leave out that I also have a wonderful husband who works hard to provide for us and make our home a wonderful place to live.

As they were doing their first cement pour, Tyler decided to run right through the cement. We didn't even realize it happened until JoHanna our neighbor pointed it out. Then Clinton just laughed and asked Tyler if he thought he was in trouble, he said, oh yeah. Then of course we had to get a picture of it.

Picnic in the Park

So after school Tyler really wanted to ride his bike and have a picnic in the park. I tried convincing him it would be fun to do in our backyard, so dad could join us when he got home. I guess I wasn't convincing enough, because he insisted we go to the park and bring a picnic basket. So that is what we did tonight. We packed up some PB&J's, carrots, watermelon, chips and water. I'm so glad he insisted on this, it brought me back to my childhood, remembering how much fun it was to eat and play with new friends at the park. Thanks Tyler for slowing my life down, to enjoy the simple things in life.

The Halloween Witches

We went to see the Witches. Tyler was a little hesitant at first but then really took to playing with the Witches. The witch he is dancing with fell right over on him, it was pretty fun seeing him under her.

Tyler, Korbin and Karson's favorite part of the night was collecting apples off the ground and throwing them into the water, and making silly faces. Korbin's foot even made it into the water.

Tyler plopped right onto this pumpkin. He was telling me about the witch right next to the candy shop and how she lifts up her skirt and you can see her underwear. He thought it was so funny.

Soccer

Yes, it has finally come. You ask what? Tyler's last soccer game. Clinton was the Coach and it was a lot of work. However, I think or at least hope all of the kids had a great time and a lot of fun. Trampoline Camp Out

Last night Clinton and Tyler decided it was a good night to have a camp out on the Trampoline. They stayed awake until 11:30, listening for deer, knocking on windows and watching airplanes and stars in the sky. Around 11:00 I headed outside to join in the fun and try to get Tyler to sleep. Tyler fell asleep about 11:30 and I only lasted until 12:00 when I finally decided to head back inside to be more comfortable. Sometime in the morning they came into bed with me and then Tyler woke up wanting to roast marshmallow's, so Clinton headed out and made a fire. Tyler sure does have the best Daddy.

Preschool

Monday August 31st, Tyler started his new Spanish Preschool. Those who are asking themselves why I am putting him in a Spanish School. Well I have had friends who did the Spanish Immersion Program and I was so impressed at how well they speak and how many opportunities they have had because they speak Spanish. From then, I have always been inspired to have Tyler learn Spanish and have as many opportunities as he can in his life.

For those who know him, he is attached to me at the hip. I was a little worried but he did great. He seems to be really taken with Teacher Laura. However, a few days later he reverted back to what I thought would happen Day 1. He wanted to come with me back to work or stay with him at school. As he puts it, he cried for me, of course that is only for a couple minutes and then he just goes along with the class. I think that this has been an adjustment for him to get to school at the time he usually took a nap.

I know he is in good hands, his teachers all seem to like him a lot and are all very sweet. In fact Teacher Laura said he is doing very well repeating Spanish and is so sweet and plays very well with all the other children. I felt like such a proud mom at that moment.

Needless to say even though he struggles going, once I pick him up he is cheerful and had a great time. When I asked him what new words he has learned he usually will tell me he can't remember, but has said a couple of times "Como Esta".

Summer Activties

Clinton is Tyler's soccer coach. Tyler played the first half and then sat out the rest of the game. The games are 1 hour and for the younger kids on the team, it seems to be a little too long - the rain didn't help. However, the kids always seem to have fun playing.

Tyler has been asking to go golfing for several weeks now. I think since we live by a golf course he has been very interested in trying it out. Anyway, we had a blast and when the ball would go into the hole he would pick it up and with one arm say YES! Tyler even got a great shot (pic) of Mom and Dad. On the last hole, we all made a hole in one, Tyler doesn't like to be suprised, so he was nervous about the fire blasting out the top but no fire came out, Clinton was a little disappointed. We had a great time.

Payette River

We had a great trip rafting down the Payette River near Boise ID. We rafted the Main section with Tyler and he had a great time, he wasn't even scared. I was so proud of him.

Swimming Lessons

Tyler improved so much in his last swim lesson. He uses his big ice cream scoop arms and can really swim. He still needs to learn his breathing but that will come. I am so proud of how great he did, everyday he improved and it was so exciting to watch.

I just love the summer, when we can enjoy an evening outside with the smell of a BBQ while chill'in with family and friends. Sunday we had the Farnsworth's and Howard's over for Hamburgers. It was fun to relax outside and visit with such great people. It was funny, Tyler went to go pee next to his usual tree spot, when Nicole commented, when Tyler was done he looked at us and then turned around and mooned us. No Training Wheels

So I know I already posted that Tyler is learning to ride his bike without training wheels but while I was at girls camp this week, HE DID IT!!!! Wednesday, June 3rd he learned how to ride his bike without help. He can start and ride on his own. I was impressed to see him ride when I got home and even more suprised when he rode off the curb! Way to go TYLER ~ Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

Zoo

Since I had work off, we spent today at the Zoo. It was a lot of fun, we ate kettle corn, visited the animals (it was cute when we saw the brown bear, he started chanting brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?), went on the carousel, and the train. Tyler has been using so many cute expressions lately that Clinton and I have been laughing all weekend, but especially today. I just can't get over how much I love Tyler, as you can't tell with all the pictures.

Bikes, Baseball, and Cousins

We took Tyler's training wheels off his bike, and he actually does pretty good. However, I think all that is in the way of him taking off on his bike is fear. Hopefully he will build his confidence and know he can do it.

Baseball started and Tyler was soooo excited to play. Especially after we bought his glove and have been practicing with him. However, his typical self came through right as we got there, he wouldn't play, he just sat on the blanket with me. Then after watching the team play once in the field and once batting, I told him it was time for him to get out there and I went with him. The last ball hit went to him and he got to pick it up and throw it to second base. He was so excited and this was all he needed to want to keep playing. He then batted and did awesome. I am so proud of him for getting out and playing. All in all he LOVED it and is excited for next week.

Mikey (Clinton's brother) is raising chicken's, as you can see Tyler loved picking them up and playing with them. Then his sweet cousin Alicia, was reading books to them. I just love to see older kids read to the younger ones. Thanks Alicia for being such a great example!

Planting a Garden

We planted our garden, and it was fun to have Tyler help. I always look forward to planting a garden, so that I have a few fresh vegetables that taste delicious and are easily accessible. Our garden is small but filled with what I love, green beans, tomatoes, green onions, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, herbs, and watermelon. Oh I can't wait until they are big and beautiful, and full of vegetables ready to be picked. Here are some fun pictures of us planting our green beans.

Tyler's 4th Birthday

Tyler had a wonderful birthday on Tuesday. Monday, we went and picked out his bike and he was soooooo excited to ride it. He has been enjoying his bike everyday since. Monday night Nicole and Kinsey came over as my decorators for Tyler's birthday and did a fabulous job. Tyler was so excited for his birthday that he woke up at 12:00am and then again at 4:30 am, and back to bed he went. Finally at 6:30 we woke up and he walked through his streamers to his presents. After opening the presents he had a cupcake for breakfast. That is the best part of your birthday is that you can eat cake for breakfast. We then got dressed and went off to pick up donuts for the preschoolers at work. As you can see he loved sharing and eating his donuts with his class.

Tyler's Great Grandma Estelle sent him some money and he was so excited to spend it on new light shoes. So after work we went and picked up the shoes. I tried to get a picture of them lighting up but it didn't work, but he wore them all day and loves them. Thanks Grandma!!!

Tyler's party started at 4:00 pm and went till 5:00 pm. Everyone (Kinsey, Jordan, Chloe, Tate, Lily, Korbin and Karson) we invited came and it was a lot of fun. We started out playing Don't Eat Ironman, and then outside to play and use our new water blasters to push balls around in the backyard. Next was cake and ice cream, but Tyler was so excited to open presents that he waited until after to eat. He got a lot of fun gifts and enjoyed his party. Once everyone left, I was off to make a Valentine's cake (heart fruit pizza), since that is what Tyler wanted. At 7:00 pm the family arrived and Tyler enjoyed opening more presents, especially his Darth Vadar costume from Grandma and Grandpa Harding. He also opened a bunch of new clothes, which I was greatful for (Tyler not as much). The evening was great and I'm so glad to those who could make it over to spend his special day with us.

Coloring eggs, Tyler had a lot of fun!

Easter morning was great. Tyler woke us up just before 8:00 am and was so excited to go find his Easter basket. He didn't even care about the eggs around the house, all he wanted to do was find his basket. The Easter Bunny didn't hid the basket very hard, after Tyler walked around the room a couple of times and looked in the curtains and under some furniture, he found it behind our picture collage. Once he played with the few things in his Easter basket, he decided to find the eggs and was running around putting them in his basket. Grandpa arrived around 8:30 am and helped Clinton hide the colored eggs in the backyard. Then Tyler and I headed outside to find more eggs. He found a couple of the eggs on his own and then started to loose interest, so Ashes helped him find the rest of the eggs. They were a great team! We headed back inside to do a Easter lesson with some plastic eggs I made years ago that contain items and a scripture to help us understand the resurrection. It was really cute because Tyler helped Grandpa read his, adding his own interpretation but amazingly enough actually using some correct scripture words. I was impressed! We went to visit Mom/Grandma "Marilyn" in Rehab to wish her Happy Easter and bring her a basket of goodies. Monday, April 6th she had hip replacement surgery. She looked great and even managed to walk around while we were there. Later that day we headed over to my Grandparents house for Easter Dinner. The food and company was wonderful and Tyler had a blast playing with his cousins. Tyler stocked up on more eggs after an Easter egg hunt Becky put together for the kids. Thanks Becky for always organizing fun activities for the kids.

West Desert

Skiing

We had the opportunity to go skiing, thanks to my Father-in-law Lynn. He set up the day for us to go by providing us with two lift tickets and offered to watch Tyler for us, while we went. I am so impressed by his generosity and willingness to always help us and others. We met up at the resort with Camille and Cameron. The weather was foggy and cold but it was just nice to be out with Clinton skiing. For the past few years we've only gone skiing about one a year, so needless to say I wasn't very good, but as the day progressed I felt more comfortable with each run. We spent most of our day on Little cloud and loved it. Around 2:00, Grandpa Lynn, Anthony, Tyler, Chloe and Tate joined us to go skiing. Tyler went skiing first and did awesome. His favorite thing to do was go through the cones. It was pretty snowy and cold, so after a few runs he was done. I then got the chance to take Tate skiing for his first time. He had a lot of fun and seemed to enjoy skiing. Here are a few photos Clinton took of Tyler and I skiing.

This year I wanted Tyler to begin to understand the true meaning of Christmas. Last night we went up to Primary Children's Hospital to drop off a gift to one of the children that will be in the hospital for Christmas. It breaks my heart that they won't be able to be in the comfort of their own home. Hopefully the blanket Clinton, Tyler and I made together and the book Tyler picked out will cheer him/her up this Christmas season. I have to tell a funny story, as I was trying to get Tyler to walk up to the desk and give it to the guards, Tyler said "but Mom they'll shoot me". So I had to explain that they protect the children in the hospital and that they will only shoot the bad guys. It must have comforted him enough, because then we walked up together to talk to them, and they told us we could leave the gift under the tree. After we delivered the package, we headed to see the Christmas Lights at Temple Square with Anthony, the Twins, Kendra and Mikey. It was cold but beautiful.

BIG Snow Storm

Those who live in Utah know that the snow dumped on us today. We received 6-8" of snow and I felt like a kid in a dream. I just love love love the snow. Today we decided to try building a snowman again. I thought for sure with all of the snow we received it should work this time. Sure enough it did, the snow was really wet and perfect for building our snowman. Later we went to see Mikey and Kendra for a sled ride behind the four-wheeler. Then we heard stories from Kendra, Tyler was so enthralled that he didn't want to leave without Kendra. It was an awesome day! I haven't seen this kind of a storm since I was a kid and I had a blast playing in it.

The other day I told Tyler we could build a snowman when we got off work. He wanted to invite Jordan to come help. Once Jordan came over, we headed outside to build our snowman but the snow wouldn't stick, we needed the sun. Tyler decided we should try sledding, so Clinton got his sled out and after pulling him around the yard a few times, decided they should play on the hill in our backyard. It was perfect for them, they were able to pull the sled up and do it over and over again. This was such a fun night for us all, and reminded me how much fun it is to play in the snow.

Santa and his Reindeer

For the last week or so, Tyler has been asking me if he can ride Santa's Reindeer. So on Monday night, Camille and I took Tyler to see the Reindeer. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let him ride the Reindeer, but he enjoyed getting to see and touch them. As I was taking Tyler and Camille's picture, some guy (who turned out to be Anthony) put his face right in front of the picture. Anthony and Angie were there to see Santa, so we joined up with them and Tyler got to see Santa. I was releived because he has also been asking to see Santa for a few weeks. It was a great night once again. Tyler and his cousins enjoyed spending time together.

Christmas Tree

This last weekend we put up the Christmas tree, after a lot of begging from Tyler. Saturday the tree went up, Sunday the lights and train and today we finished by putting up the decorations. I have to say the tree is beautiful, as it is every year.

I have a wonderful husband who every year puts up my tree and house lights and does an awesome job at it. Yep, he's taken. Here he is putting on the lights and putting the train together.

Also, tonight we started off a new holiday tradition, it's from a book I received a few Christmas' ago from my Aunt Kathy. You start the 1st of December and each day until Christmas by reading a Thought, Scripture, Activity, Song and Story all regarding the true mean of Christmas. For instance today's Song was "He Sent His Son" and the thought was:

The Father gave His Son and the Son gave His life. Without giving there is no true Christmas, and without sacrifice there is no true worship. "Christmas means 'giving', and the gift without the giver is bare. Give of yourselves; give of your substance; give of your heart and mind... "Christmas means 'compassion and love' and, most of all 'forgiveness'... How poor indeed would be our lives without the influence of His teachings and His matchless example... "He whose birth we commemorate this season is more than the symbol of a holiday. He is the Son of God, ... the Redeemer of mankind, the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace" (Gordon B. Tyler had so much fun with this tonight (I hope for nights to come) and I feel like it is a great way for him to understand the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ. Especially since all he has been talking about lately is Santa this and Santa that. Which is great but I also what him to understand what we are really celebrating.

Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your Thanksgiving was one full of gratitude. I am sure grateful for so many things.

- First of all my husband and son that I can love them and that they bring so much joy to my life.
- For Jesus Christ and the sacrifices he made for me.
- Family and Friends for helping mold me into who I am today
- For a hard working husband, whom will always take care of me and Tyler.
- For laughter, and even more the humor of children.
- For a healthy and strong body.
And many more, which will have to be saved for next year.

Thanksgiving day was spent with my family this year, and my dad (Grandpa Ray) treated us to dinner at a Restraunt this year. The cheese rolls and carrot cake were delicious, and did not disappoint. The rest of the dinner was also great. I had salmon (a first for Thanksgiving) and it was really yummy. After dinner, we went to Nicole's to visit and played games (Thanksgiving Bingo, and Scategories). Nicole also read a great story about the pilgrims and we all shared what we were grateful for. Tyler said he was grateful for Friends, Clinton~Little Tylers, and Me~A wonderful job were I can take Tyler and he can grow. Around 6:30 pm we headed to Clinton's grandmothers house for more dessert. It was low key and it was great seeing those who were there. After dessert, we went to the tree lot at Karin's house to pick out a tree with both Clinton's and my family. It was so hard to choose this year, because we had so many beautiful trees to choose from. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the ones you love.

Tree Cutting Dos...

Today, we went Pinyin Tree cutting, another family tradition. It was a lot of fun, but we missed those who couldn't make it. The day started out at around 8:30 am and we met up with a bunch of the family that camped around 10:30 am. Shortly, after we arrived Anthony, Angie and the twins pulled up. Typically we go tree cutting and then the boys shoot guns at targets or clay pigeons. However, this year some family that had to take off early, so the day started with shooting. Of course, Ashes our dog hates the sound of a shot gun and cowards to find some where to hid. After a few hours of this, we went tree cutting which only took a few hours and then we went back to camp for lunch. Once again, Anthony and Angie provided lunch of Brats, hot dogs and sandwiches. It was a great trip and fun hanging out with the family.

Tyler's Sweetness

I'm blogging this because I never want to forget how sweet Tyler is. At school Tyler's teacher Cherish asked him what he was Thankful for, his response was "Thank you to Jesus to bring me a baby". How sweet is that!

He is so anxious to become a brother and it makes my heart break that I can't make it happen for him. I guess this is teaching us all patience. I know with help, a new baby will come to our family, and Tyler will be an awesome brother. He is so cute with all the babies at my work, and loves helping feed and play with them.

Christmas Tree Cutting

Last Saturday was our annual tradition of cutting Alpine Christmas trees. This year we had several family members come, in past years for Alpine it has only been Lynn, Clinton, Tyler, and I. Having so many of us together was a lot of fun, it was nice to see and visit with everyone. I feel like these are always such bonding moments and a time we can look back on. Yes, I am a very sentimental person. As always, we started out our morning at around 6:30 and then headed to McDonald's for breakfast. Once we got to our destination we split up to find the trees. Mikey's boss let us borrow his 4-wheelers and the kids absolutely loved riding them. This year we found some great trees, they had them all cut within a few hours. I think this was probably one of the best years for finding trees, since I've been coming for about 12years now. We then had lunch, loaded up the trees and went home. This was a great day, thanks to everyone.

Halloween

I hope everyone had a spooky and happy Halloween. Tyler had a blast trick-or-treating this year and was old enough to understand it. He decided he wanted to be Batman on Halloween day. At school they went to some of the departments at the hospital to trick-or-treat, and got lots of candy. He got so much I wasn't sure he needed to go tonight, but of course what is Halloween without going door-to-door through your neighborhood. Jordan and Tyler were going as fast as they could to each house, full of excitement. When they were done he dumped out the candy on the couch, this brought back so many memories of my own Halloween nights growing up. Then we headed off to Grandpa and Grandma's house. Tyler played with his cousins (Chloe and Tate). All in all Halloween 2008 was great.

Tonight was our Ward's Halloween party. The youth were in charge and I must say the kids seemed to all have a great time. Tyler was a 49ers football player (aka Steve Young). I was dressed up as a Gothic slayer. Unfortunately, Clinton had to work, so we were on our own. Here are some fun pictures from the party.

Tyler has been waiting for it to snow, since last weekend on the hunt when I thought we'd be in snow. Tyler was so excited to hurry and get dressed and get dad out of bed so he could go play in the snow. Here are some pictures of Tyler and Clinton playing.

They gave up on kicking and resorted to snowballs. They succeede and I was hit by their snowballs.

Hee Haw Farms

Tyler had his first field trip at HeeHaw Farms. We started out by the sunflowers and then went to see the animals. After the animals we tried to go on a hay ride, but the tractor broke so then we spent some time at the slides and ended by picking out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. I think he loved the animals the most, but the slide was a close second. I was really happy that I got to go with him, and experience all the fun too.

Elk Hunt

BURR cold, and rainy. This is how I would describe the hunt.

We headed to the mountains on Friday after work. The weather when we arrived wasn't bad and we all slept pretty good. Except Randy, Ashes (our dog) insisted on giving him kisses all night. The hunters (Clinton, Randy, Justin and Ray "my Dad") left Saturday morning around 5:00 am. Tyler woke up and said "is Grandpa's going to shoot Kudou". I think if I would have let Tyler leave with them, he would have been out the tent before anyone else. However, Grandpa Lynn, Tyler and I enjoyed sleeping in.

Later that morning we left for a hike around camp, trying to find some sign of Elk or Deer. I carried Tyler in the backpack and he seem to enjoy the hike, singing and talking the whole way. I tried explaining to him that we need to be quiet if we wanted to see any Elk but he was having to much fun singing. We had no luck and came back to camp to have lunch with the hunters. About this time is when it started to rain pretty heavy. Tyler and I chilled in the tent and truck while they went back out hunting. We all hung around the fire for a while, when Grandpa Ray was going to leave and asked Tyler if he wanted to sleep over at Grandpa's. Tyler decided he wanted to go to Grandpa's. So I left with Tyler and we stopped at his favorite place for dinner, McDonald's.

The bath and shower that night for Tyler and I was the best part of going to Grandpa's. However, if you were to ask Grandpa and Tyler it would be the secrets and stories they were telling. Tyler said to Grandpa, "I have a secret to tell you". Grandpa went over and said what, when Tyler responded "Tickle Tickle Tickle". Then Tyler said he had another secret, and began to tell a story about hunting. They both told a few stories and then we headed to bed.

Sunday morning we got up around 4:45 am. Way too early. We drove up to camp and met up with Clinton, Randy, Lynn and Justin about 5:45 am. It wasn't raining yet and we hoped for decent weather. After the hunters left, Tyler and I went back to sleep in the Tent. However, by the time Tyler and I woke up it was pouring rain. The hunters got back to camp around 10:00 am, and decided they had enough of the weather and broke camp a day early. Unfortunately, they didn't get a Deer/Elk, but Clinton did see a couple of doe. We visited around the camp fire, had lunch and headed home.

Tyler loved every minute of it and hardly complained. I was so proud of him for toughing the weather. Tyler made this hunting trip a lot of fun and I was glad I went. Here are some pictures of the hunt. Warning: lots of pictures.

Firewood

Clinton picked up Tyler and they went to Snowbird to get firewood and meet up with Grandpa. Tyler was so excited he was telling everyone "I'm going to Snowbird to get firewood". When they got back Tyler helped dad unload, by rolling the wood out of the truck and trailer. They had a lot of fun together. Then today Tyler got his saw out and started trying to saw through the wood. It was so cute, I had to get a few pictures.
